New Release Tuesday – 10/12/2010

Time goes fast.  I mean, it’s the second week of October already.  The leaves are changing colors, it’s getting a little colder outside (nationwide, at least) , and it’s apparently bad time of year to wear white.  All the while, another solid week of music releases comes and goes.  Shouts out to AmazonMP3 for the streams.

The Grand Theatre Volume One - Old 97’s

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, the Old 97’s have been entertaining listeners with their brand of Country music for the past 17 years.  Today, they’re releasing their eighth studio album on New West Records.  In order to create the new release, the band performed a week long residency at Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas full of new material.  The songs that drew the best reactions were then recorded.  This album represents half of all the successful recordings.

The Age of Adz Sufjan Stevens

The Age of Adz represents Mr. Steven’s first full-length song-based album in five years.  The Indie Pop monster is known for his use of varying styles, and this time around, heavy use of electronics and orchestration are featured on the release.  Entirely written and produced by the creative performer, the album’s been getting some great praise in the press.  This could definitely be worth a look for the Indie/Folk community.
