New Release Tuesday – 08/17/2010

The summer is definitely heating up here in LA, in more ways than one.  Not only are we finally feeling the summer heat here at the office, there’s also a slew of new records from some legendary acts this week.  As always, shouts out to AmazonMP3 for the streams.

100 Wayz Tha Dogg Pound

West Coast legends Tha Dogg Pound have been putting in work for over 15 years, achieving longevity in a genre that its artists rarely experience.  Their seventh studio album features production from DJ Quik, Denaun Porter, Swizz Beatz, and of course, Dogg Pound member Daz.  No album from the duo would be complete without guest appearances from the DPG family either, including Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg, and Soopafly.

Chamber Music Society Esperanza Spalding

It’s hard not to appreciate the skill set of a gifted, young jazz musician.  Few are as talented and promising as Esperanza Spalding, who’s releasing her third solo album today.  If you’re willing to indulge in something a little different from the contemporary Pop/R&B that saturates the radio, be sure to take a listen to the young Vocalist/Bassist’s new album.

Final Frontier Iron Maiden

While Tha Dogg Pound has longevity, there are few bands in any genre that can claim to it as much as Iron Maiden.  I mean, how many bands can say that they’ve sold over 75 million albums worldwide, and performed in over 2000 shows?  Today, they’re releasing their 15th studio album, a truly impressive feat.  The band is currently touring in Europe to support the album, and will be traveling out to Australia beginning in February 2011.

God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise Ray LaMontagne & The Pariah Dogs

Sometime, you just want to listen to some raspy voiced Folk music.  To fulfill that need, Ray LaMontagne is serving up his fourth studio album today.  It’s getting some rave reviews all-around, so this could definitely be worth a look, even if Folk music isn’t exactly your “thing.”

Cowboy’s Back In Town Trace Adkins

Creeping up on the vaunted ten album milestone is Trace Adkins, who is releasing his ninth this week.   The Country music vet is as excited as ever with this release, and has been touring with Toby Keith in support of the record.  Expect some vintage, serious Trace on here, along with a few upbeat and slightly eccentric songs to balance everything out.
